Travis & Amy Steele were inspired to start Lily's Hope after losing their 5th child when Amy was 11 weeks pregnant. Travis and Amy knew they wanted to bury their child but had a lot of questions and knew that other families did too. In this process they felt a deep calling to do what they could to provide a space for families. As the couple grieved the loss of their child, two women reached Amy with great compassion and love; Sarah & Jodi. It is through the love of these two women and the grief of losing Lily that God called Travis and Amy to take steps to begin Lily's Hope Ministry.
In the early summer of 2019, Amy reached out to Jodi with the idea of Lily's Hope. After also feeling the grief of losing two unborn children in 2013 & 2014 Josh and Jodi felt a desire to be part of something that was desperately needed in the community. With this ministry we hope to help families who are unexpectedly going through the loss of an infant with compassion and to acknowledge their sufferings.
Just three weeks prior to Amy and Travis losing their baby Lily, Sarah and Jacob suffered a devastating loss of a baby girl in May of 2019. Their grief work began eight years prior when their first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage followed by their son Boyd Xavier unexpectedly dying shortly after birth. After three years of trying again, Sarah and Jacob were excited to have a sibling for their son Milo. They had a perfect first appointment with a positive ultrasound showing a healthy, moving baby. That very same evening Sarah delivered her 13 week old baby, suffering another great loss. It was thought that Sarah, Jodi and Amy's baby girls would bring them together as friends, but instead it was a deep compassion and sense of empathy for the losses in their lives. One of Lily's Hope's goals is to remember the lost lives that existed in the love of their families and their mothers
